The Poppy Story
A zygote is the first cell that forms when an egg and sperm combine. By four weeks, that zygote becomes an embryo, about the size of a poppy seed. We believe this is the beginning of new life, which is why we chose the name "The Poppy". Though a poppy seed is tiny, it represents the miracle of life and how precious it is from the very start. Any loss during the pregnancy journey is profound, and the grief that follows can be difficult to express but is carried by many.

We are two sisters, Sarah & Joy, from Sydney, Australia, blessed with five boys between us. However, our paths to creating our families have been marked by both joy and sorrow. We've both experienced miscarriages, a grief that was heavy and often hard to share. We both found that the grief of losing what could have been hits you at the most unexpected times, and that it was an experience that isn't often spoken about until you share your story and hear a friend a say, "I've been through the same thing". It was only after our own losses that our mum shared with us her experience of losing a child between having us.

Along with acknowledging these losses, we also want to be a source of hope for those trying to have a baby. We understand that having a baby looks different for everyone. The 'wait' can be long and uncertain, and the challenges of infertility and endless appointments can be both physically and emotionally draining.

At the Poppy, we understand that sometimes words are not enough to express your love and support in times of baby loss and hope during the journey into parenthood. Our gift boxes offer a heartfelt way to show someone you're thinking about them. Our mission is to ensure that no woman feels alone in her grief or her 'wait'.
